Cervix of Steel

The last thing you want to hear when you are 38 1/2 weeks pregnant is that you have a "cervix of steel", right? Well thats what the doc told me today! There is NOTHING going on down there! Luckily, we only have a week more to wait to be induced next monday - thank goodness this bed rest is getting to me. All I have been doing is eating like a piggy - thankfully I haven't gained any weight but thats not to say for my son - in the last 2 weeks, he has gained close to TWO pounds - so much for the 1/2 pound per week that they estimate! Looks like we are going to have an 8 pound baby after all! Today he weighed about 7 1/2 pounds and has another week to grow. It looks like I will not be going into labor on my own and will have to be induced next week. Thats ok with me but it just gives me a higher chance of having to get a c-section. But the doctors know what they are doing. Good news today is that my high blood pressure is not affecting the baby at all - he is very healthy and everything is perfect with him. We'll keep you posted if anything happens between now and next Monday!
